Welcome to my website "My paintings begin as drawings that often become buried deep in layers of paint. I love to explore the contrast between transparency and opacity, so my working process involves as much rubbing back as it does the use of a brush. My work owes a lot to the mark making of the painters that I admire most - brush strokes derived from the work of Bacon, Hodgkin, the Abstract Expressionists, Turner and Rembrandt. If I were to sum it all up in one sentence, I would say that my painting is about rhythm; the adrenaline rush of managing 'happy accidents' and the joy of applying pigment to canvas."
