A series of paintings based on an image found in East Harlem, New York. I was deeply moved by the vulnerability and tenderness in the picture and the deep contrast with the harshness of the surroundings. The mother and child series has offered a rich seam of subject matter on which to meditate and around which to create a series of painterly abstractions.
