These paintings are made in response to the landscapes of the Derbyshire Peak District, North Wales, North Cornwall and the Hebridean island of Tiree. I paint from fast sketches made in the field and from memory. This method, along with the use of bold colours and mixed media techniques, has the effect of condensing the images and creating emotional intensity.
